Re-opening Information

from Pastor Jacqueline Hannan

Re-opening Atascocita Presbyterian Church for Sunday Worship Services

It is with sincere gratitude that we thank you for your continued support as we navigate these uncertain times. The health and well-being of our Congregation and staff continue to be our priority. Now more than ever, we want you to know that we are working hard to provide a safe and healthy place to worship, to learn, and to enjoy fellowship.

We want everyone to experience a successful and positive return to church. Some of us are ready to attend church today and some prefer to wait a bit longer. We fully respect whatever decisions you consider best for you and your family.

As state and local authorities continue to open more businesses across the state, your safety is always our first concern. Session is actively developing a comprehensive plan for re-opening our doors. Our plan will include appropriate safety measures, social-distancing practices, and extensive cleaning protocols consistent with CDC and Texas Department of Health guidelines, including the following:

Before Opening:

  1. Cleaning/disinfecting of carpeting and furniture
  2. Deep cleaning of all hard surfaces and bathrooms
  3. Free standing hand sanitizers
  4. Remove all hymnals, bible, friendship pads, offering envelopes etc. from pews
  5. Remove chairs from choir loft
  6. Prepare Fellowship Hall for overflow seating

Sunday Mornings:

  1. Worship will continue to be Zoomed
  2. Masks and social distancing required
  3. No nursery; no children’s or youth faith formation
  4. Adult faith formation under review
  5. No materials handed out by ushers
  6. Wipes available for door handles, etc.
  7. Sanctuary seating arrangements as marked – about 50 can be seated
  8. Fellowship Hall used for overflow seating
  9. No passing of the peace, no Congregational singing
  10. Prayer requests online as done now
  11. No coffee, snacks, etc.
  12. No collecting of the offering – a plate will be put out by doorway

The planning and organization to implement these new measures successfully will take many hours. We continue to listen and learn from medical and science professionals to guide our re-opening and we will continue to have frequent conversations to evaluate and adjust any items or issues that may arise.
