Spiritual Fellowship Ministry

The Spiritual Fellowship Committee ministers to the social needs of our members. In the past, we have organized events for various ages and various interests. Due to the pandemic, some of our activities are via Zoom and some are suspended.

Presbyterian Women is an independent organization within the PC(USA).

Introducing the 2021-2022 Presbyterian Women/Horizons Bible Study

Please join us as we begin our new study “What My Grandmothers Taught Me: Learning from the Women in Matthew’s Geneaology of Jesus”. The first chapter of the Gospel of Matthew invites us into the family stories that helped shape Jesus and shape us too. The women in Jesus’ family tree have backstories that are exactly the kind of story you can imagine hearing while sitting spell bound as your grandmother reminisces about her early life.

Matthew chose to mention a handful of women: Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, Bathsheba, and Mary. What can they teach us? Matthew has named these women for a reason. Their stories will lead us into the Gospel, the Good News about Jesus Christ. Having explored their stories together, we will have a richer idea about the good news!

Please join us on the second Wednesday of each month in the Church Parlor for Lunch and Fellowship at 11:30 and the Bible Study from 12:00 to 1:00pm. If you are interested in joining this study, please contact Judi Anderson at jla.lpc55@gmail.com for more information and to receive a copy of your Study Guide. We would love to welcome you into our group!

Yoga for Everyone is an adult exercise class that meets year round at 9:30 on Monday mornings, in the Fellowship Hall. It has recently resumed sessions. Chairs have been sanitized and social distancing is observed.

Ancient Mariners is a group made up of 55+ Seniors that meet up at APC once a month to take field trips provided by Harris County Precinct 2. Trips may be to a ball game, a museum or wildlife facility, etc. All trips include visiting a restaurant for lunch or dinner at the expense of the individual. Trips are planned by the Coordinator with suggestions from members of APC. Guests are welcome, provided there is room on the bus.

Many other groups, including Empty Nesters dinners, Wednesday church dinners, Games for Grownups, and craft activities have been put on hold and will resume when it is safe to do so. We pray you and your family are safe.
